Eric Liu is a budding product-centric professional with experience building products powered by Data Science. Through his out-of-the-box thinking and entrepreneurship, he quickly gained the trust of his teammates in carrying the mission of his team and their product. Although not formally trained in Product Management nor Computer Science, Eric has proven the ability to understand complex technical details and has proudly showed the unique skill of explaining things in a layman-friendly manner. The latter of which has been instrumental in getting buy-in for products and their adoption.

Eric’s formal education began at Wayne State University where his freshmen year consisted of taking graduate-level Economics courses paired with junior/senior-level Psychology classes and a touch of the Business basics. He then transferred to Michigan State University after one year, continuing to major in Economics while also taking classes to apply for the Business school. His interests in Econometrics was heavily influenced by his professor who always started the class with a discussion on the previous day’s NCAA tournament results and their statistical nature. The Stats/Econ mix has been the focal point for why Eric is in his current position as Product Owner on the Data Science team at Quicken Loans. He is determined to change the world by influencing decisions with data.

In his spare time you can often find him on a nearby basketball court putting up some shots. When he’s too tired from basketball you might also find him with a camera in hand taking photos as a hobby (and sometimes as a professional). Check out his instagram for a taste (@eliu32).

Eric is always interested in making connections and having great conversations with like-minded people. Whether it’s talking about Economics, Product Management, Photography, or Basketball, he will not turn down a conversation. Please see the links on the contact page to reach out to him.
